Tonyo Cruz wears many hats: blogger, advocate, digital strategist and newspaper columnist. Tonyo blogs about politics and technology at tonyocruz.com, the best news and media blog in the Philippine Blog Awards 2008. He is also actively involved in many communities and causes: Among others, he is a co-founder of TweetUpMNL, the lead organizer of the Social Media Day events in the Philippines since 2012; an evangelist of #RescuePH and #ReliefPH, the Philippines' tech-powered citizens' response to calamities; convenor of Bloggers and Netizens for Democracy, which sued the government over the Cybercrime Law; and founder of TXTPower, the advocacy group promoting rights of mobile phone and Internet users. He has also worked for a newspaper, advertising agencies, activist Members of Congress, cause-oriented groups, and a presidential candidate. He has spoken or attended in national, regional and international conferences. He is a tireless champion of internet and tech use by movements, causes and advocacies. He now also writes a weekly Op-Ed column for the Manila Bulletin, one of the Philippines' oldest newspapers.
