When I left to Southern Chad with the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team in 2012, I didn't know I'll be so lucky that within a year I'll be able to work on my mapping - citizen media project in Niger as one of Rising Voices grantees of 2013. The Mapping for Niger project that has been ongoing since June 2013, involves about thirty Geography students in mapping their communities that largely lack geographic data, and using social media to talk about the life in Niger. Active in the Nigerien, West African and Hungarian OpenStreetMap community, I'm currently based in my hometown, Budapest, Hungary, with frequent travel to the Sahel region, to continue working on open-source mapping and citizen media.
