Head of Urban Sustainability
Hong Kong
Chloe Lai is working on her doctoral thesis at the Comparative Literature Department, University of Hong Kong. She researches on whether the news media is an integral part of the neoliberal pro-growth machine with specific reference to the urban redevelopment regime in Hong Kong. Chloe 's research partly draws on her extensive experience on the news media in Hong Kong. She had been a professional journalist at HK's leading dailies, the South China Morning Post and the Apple Daily, for more than a decade until she started a website that dedicates to promote the unsung heros practicing sustainability. At her leisure time, she volunteers for the Hong Kong In Media Net, an online platform that promotes and safeguards free press and freedom of expression. Although she is no longer a member of the printing press, free press and freedom of expression is still the most important subject to her.
