Daudi Khamadi Were is a Kenyan technology, data and information strategist and social rights defender based in Nairobi. Daudi spends most of his time working on innovative ways technology can be used as an effective tool to bring about positive change in communities across the world. Daudi works at Ushahidi; a global technology company founded and headquartered in Kenya; which specializes in developing free and open source software for information collection, visualization and interactive mapping. Daudi’s current role at Ushahidi is the Innovation Director of Making All Voices Count a USD 55m global initiative aimed at boosting and enriching the field of transparency and accountability. Making All Voices Count’s goal is to employ new methods and ways of thinking to stimulate citizen-led initiatives and ensure the creation of new channels and tools for governments to embrace citizen feedback. Daudi also provides technology and digital media strategy support to several high impact grassroots civil society organisations and NGOs across Africa. Daudi is recognised as thought leader online, blogs at www.mentalacrobatics.com and is a TED Africa fellow.
