Round Table: Reporting in the Midst of a Propaganda War

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

During the last year, the information war between Russia, Ukraine, and the West
has intensified, and the Internet has become one of its major battlefields. RuNet
Echo has provided extensive coverage of efforts to manipulate information in the
media, in a struggle to frame events in Ukraine and persuade an international
public of a particular narrative.

Editors Kevin Rothrock and Tanya Lokot will talk to RuNet Echo contributors
Aric Toler, Daniel Kennedy, and Sergey Kozlovsky about managing the balance
between being bloggers, activists, journalists, and scholars as we report on the
propaganda war. We’ll discuss civic journalism and blogging, fact checking and
verification, propaganda techniques, memes and viral content, as well as the
challenges of covering Russian, Ukrainian, and Western players engaged in
propaganda and misinformation campaigns on the RuNet.
